as you noted in another post,
sunglasses are manditory fishing gear especialy during day time on snow covered lakes. there are several reasons you need them the first and formost is snow blindness. even on a cloudy day the snow can refelct blinding uv rays back up at you doubling the amount of uv comming down from above.
second reason you want sunglasses or goggles is to keep flying snow and ice splingers flying throulgh the wind. sharp ice cristles can cause permanant damage to your eyes if you do not take percausions.
third is when ever using a cutting tool weather it is a power or hand cutting tool you should always wear eye protection.
Ski gogles are great for ice fishing because they have two lenses. shaded and clear. when the sun is not out you can take the shaded lense off leaving the clear onw.
these goggles will help keep the sinus areas from freezing and are vented to keep from fogging up on you while wearing them.
