Yes. The Nil's is great. I used a brand new one this week end at Magic that a friend of mine bought. He raves about it now also.
BUT....., I can drill through about 12 inches of ice in about 20 seconds with my Mora also (yes, by hand, only takes about 10 seconds with the drill attachment). Is the Nil's really worth twice the price? I've used a Nil's..... I just don't see justifying the price. Perhaps the quality on the Mora is inconsistent or has dropped since I bought mine 10+ years ago? Perhaps I got a good one while others got bad ones? I'm skeptical about that thought, but it is possible.
Perhaps we need to get several different Nil's augers together with several Mora's and see if there is a quality difference. I'm not dogging the Nil's. It's a great auger and if you buy one, I'm sure you will be happy. But from what I can tell from the ones I've used, it isn't any better than a Mora which costs about 1/2 the price. I'd love to hear if someone replace their Mora with a Nil's and they really thought it was better.
Based on my experience, if you go with Nil's or strikemaster, you are in good shape. Go with Eskimo, HT, of Jiffy, not so much.
