[cool][#0000ff]Sorry guys, I can't lend any words of immoral support on this issue. I think you are overreacting to something that doesn't need fixing. It happens. It's the Internet and when you post something it belongs to the masses. Fruitless to expect credit for it...or even a vague acknowledgement.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]As Kent suggested, the person who runs that other website does not have the best of reputations among old-time Utah web-cruising anglers. I had my own issues with him. But he is just trying to provide whatever info he can for the benefit of the visitors to his site. Not any consideration at all about potentially violating confidentiality or patting someone else on the back. Not expected and not necessary.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I put up a "few" posts my own self and sometimes I get requests for permission to "accomodate" my stuff...but more often I don't. I have seen my exact words reposted on a lot of other forums...without any mention of the source. No biggie. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]In your academic world you are used to having to cite references and sources for anything you take from printed sources. That's the way it is. If it is published, it is usually copyrighted and proper credit must be given to legally quote it. Not so on the Internet. Wide open once posted.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]We all like to receive proper credit and recognition for our accomplishments. But when it comes to fishing it becomes very socialistic..."From each according to his abilities to each according to his needs." We are all eager to soak up everything we can from others more experienced. And, if we are properly grateful, we pass it on whenever we get the chance. No need to get all tangled up in running a list of credits (like a movie) after every post we share with others.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Do I get "miffed" when I see that something I posted has been "used" elsewhere...without giving me any credit? Not usually. I prefer to be happy in knowing that maybe...just maybe...I helped someone else. Nothing wrong with being a "secret Santa" when it comes to fishing. [/#0000ff]
