Got out at noonish after taking the Mrs to do the last minute Christmas shopping fiasco. Much quieter on the lake. Put in at 153 ramp and was suprised to see the dock sitting dry. A challenge launching the boat and not getting my feet wet as I had to back down until the Tundra's back bumper was nearly in the water!

Made a short run across the bay to some sloughs on the HBSP side and didn't have to move the rest of the day. Lots of bait suspended but not close enough to the surface to draw birds. Quickly caught a 3lbr on a chatterbait near wood. Found a nice rocky secondary point with a drop from 5 - 10 ft and threw a shakyhead. Using a Veritas spinning rod with braid and a floro leader....I could feel it bouncing off the shad as it sank down. Had a very light bite and set the hook on a 2lbr. Made an identical cast and another 2lbr. Nada after that. Picked up the chatterbait and started working down a tree strewn bank. I was hopping it off the bottom in the dead space between 2 trees. As I was pulling it in I saw a flash and my bait was gone. Had to thumb the spool to let some line out and make sure my ticker was still ticking. Nice football shaped 4lbr. Went back to the secondary point and spooned over the drop off. Got two more LM's that were barely keepers. All released of course.

Fished till 4:30 with only a couple of white bass on a spoon. When I got back to the ramp I could have sworn the water had dropped another inch or so. Going to hit it again tomorrow if the Mrs gives me a pass. Enjoying some time away from work and hoping for a big fat Sportsman's Warehouse giftcard from Santa!

Water was LOW and very dingy in the main lake but 1 ft vis in the cuts. Temp was 52 - 53.3 deg. Be safe out there.
