I just went through this and it was a little bit of a hassle. One of the problems was the Ohio watercraft office wasn't sure about the regulations and it took a few phone calls couple of trips to the watercraft office to get everything right. You do have to have a HIN for your boat. They say if you do not have one they will issue you one but i had the outlaw escape and they would not issue me one so i had to call Dave Scadden and he Mailed me a HIN number. So if possible get a HIN number to save you some headaches. There are a couple ways to register your boat and i used the alternate registration. This is good if you plan on never using a motor on your boat. You do not need to title it this way and all is needed is a registration. The cost was $25.00 and it is good for 3 years. They will give you a sticker number for your boat and you will have to have it and your HIN number on the boat to be legal. If you plan on putting a motor on it at some point you will have to register it different. I would call and ask to be sure of what all is required with a motor. Hope this helps some and if you have any more questions feel free to ask.
