I have to admit that I get a chuckle out of statements like this. Yes, there is a PCB advisory for carp and channel cats there and I certainly agree with heeding that advisory or making an informed decision if you partake. However, your own posted link shows another important point. The PCB level in walleye, white bass, and bullhead fillets is below the screening level and is considered safe by the government. You are mistaken to say that eating panfish out of there poses a similar PCB risk to channel cats and carp or even a notable risk at all. Mercury is another fish contaminant that is considered a major problem worldwide. Many fisheries around the state have mercury advisories. Utah lake fish have been tested and have some of the lowest figures in the state! So called pristine lakes like Jordanelle have mercury advisories on fish there. You mentioned Deer Creek. It doesn't have advisories, but the walleye there almost made the advisory line. Bon appetit. Other lakes and streams also came close.

Bottom line is I have no reservations about feeding my kids or myself panfish/white bass fillets from Utah lake and I do consider myself at least somewhat informed on the subject.
