Another thing to consider is some people secrete more L-serine which is most widely known as a fish repellent. Bears, otters and other fish predators are known to emit the same chemical. Since some guys have much higher concentrations in their skin and secrete more than others a fish biologist buddy of mine feels that those fishermen that seem to have less luck than others probably just emit a higher quantity of this chemical then the guy standing next to him that some may consider "lucky." For this reason a lot of West coast salmon guides insist on their clients wearing gloves. No sense trying to decide who does and doesn't when it comes to handling their bait and receiving tips.
