Yes, they prune the vines going to other pumpkins and only let one grow per plant. I think they start with four and after they determine which is growing the best, they thin them to one. Between all the water and fertilizer they grow them monsters. The fertilzer is a mixture of fish and sea weed or kelp. It is hard to imagine them putting on 44 lbs a day during their peak growing month but you can almost watch them getting bigger. I can't comment on the carriage idea because the pumpkins belong to someone else but it is a good idea and I'll say something to them the next time I see the growers. Maybe next year[:/].
