Best time to hit mead???

Last Saturday, hit Government Wash at dawn. There were boils everywhere. After about an hour the bite was off. I went to 33 Hole and the sonar found baitfish about 30 ft down at around 40-50ft water. Got hits on a spoon vertical jigging while drift fishing but it was sporadic. The wind was blowing and I quit after getting blown into shore too many times. I'm on a kayak and I didn't want to drop anchor. I probably should have used the windsock.

I'll be out tomorrow, same time.
