OK, i'm going to educate you.......


first off, basspro has a huge inventory of surf rods availible, well with in your price range. Follow this link. it will take you a the surf rod page of bass pro. from there, you can vary it by specific length. All the brand names under this catagory are high quality, even the cheaper rods like the Diawa beef stick:

As far as reel, i'd go with something all metal, and braid ready. You might be a little over budget, but it would be worth the extra money to know you've got a bullet proof outfit that can handle larger saltwater fish, and have the line capacity to actually catch them since you're stuck on the beach. I strongly recommend the Fin Nor Offshore series spinning reel, or all metal Penn reels in any series. But, if budget is all you can do, i'd go for something like the offshore angler sea lion spinning reel. It's still a decent reel and at a great price.
