I reversed head for trolling mot.
#3
Thanks for your feed back, always a pleasure to help a fellow fisherman.I reversed the head on my transom mount trolling motor,"very carefully",lol..I got the idea from a vintage motor I have,it has a bolt and nut, which you can see,it was easy with my old motor,I didn't have to open it.On new ones you have to open the head unit,6to 8 screws,[Image: beaten.gif],once you open it look down near the shaft for a bolt and nut, once you remove it you can turn the unit 180[Image: surprised.gif],then just put back the bolt and nut.I had to use a universal joint with a long extension, and a 1/4 inch drive cause of the angle.Easier said than done, depends on the year? After I was done, the handle wouldn't lock,it would keep spinning, anyway I had to open it again and make a stoper out of a piece of bamoo which I glued in .There is a roll pin sticking out, thats what I guessed stoped it from spinning all the way around,I had that pin hit against the bamboo piece I glued in,works fine, but I don't know were I went wrong,I guess always expect the unexpected,Paulpro..I was using my vintage motor for awhile on the bow, worked so good I took the chance on either upgrading my 54lb motor guide,or damaging it...I can know hook up another motor to the stern, this way the boat isn't so back heavy,The ways this set could help you are endless, you can go shallower without having to trim up,no more turning around to steer, tighter turning radius, faster U-turns,you steer from the front therefore you always get that first cast, now your fishing buddy takes the back seat, its also easier to keep the bow into the wind, its also easier to steer and fish, like I said its endless, one of my most rewarding mods.I fished many years with a transom mount,I know of the struggles.Best of all the money you can save, those bow mount foot peddal motors can be expensive.I know someone sells one that comes with an option to reverse the head..WOW,took me awhile, but I found this motor, comes ready to go,includes reversable head,enjoy..
