Another thing you could try edge is change up your presentation until you find what they like. If you are fishing cooler water like I am in Wyoming slow is the key. Also I have done a lot of snorkeling, crawdads (the crab looking things) also called crayfish do not hop up off the bottom of the lake bed. They walk slowly and flitter off backwards when spooked. One of my most effective methods is a rod sweep. Cast let the bait get all the way to the bottom, reel in the slack line and sweep the rod back like you would a golf club on a back swing. Keep changing the speed of the sweep until you find what they like, put a twitch or hop in there... Jigs are for fishing deeper water mostly.
