The foul hooked carp is a good point. They do make your reel sing, but the more I thought about, I'm not so sure. Correct me if I'm wrong ( I'm going off of memory), but aren't the hooks on spinnerbaits facing upwards. By design, they are supposed to be weedless and not catch on anything unless they bite it. I suppose they could snag a fish from underneath, but I think the blades would divert the lure away from the fish. My guess is whatever broke you off bit it and took you under a sharp rock. The world may never know.
