I believe it was a catfish or a carp. But honestly I cannot believe even a 20 pound channel cat could break 12 pound flourocarbon. That fluorocarbon, in 10 pound class, can just about pull in a silver salmon in the 12 pound range. And not to knock on Utah fish but there are not alot of fish that can do that. The conditions can certainly tear you up, but Utah lake and it' s associated beaches are not known for a lot of treacherous conditions. I am not denying it was a good fish, but sounds more like bad luck..... Or the state record cat just wanted some jewelry for his lip. The foul hooked carp has some credence to the way it was fighting as well. Sounds like a lot of fun though!
