You never mentioned where you were visiting from? Let me guess.... Texas?
Anyhow the first thing you MUST do is buy your NV fishing license and of course some fishing gear. A Med 10# set-up and some bait hooks will do.
A go to bait at lake mead would be anchovies. With these few things your choices of where to bank fish are up to you. If your just looking for somewhere nearby go to 33hole or Sunset overview. Signs mark it clearly they are both parking lots off of lakeshore rd.
Descend down the hill find a spot and fish anchovies on the bottom. Chum some anchovies maybe move around a bit and you have a good chance at some catfish and if you’re lucky maybe some striper.
Don’t forget to bring water and at night remember a flashlight and bug-spray. Pretty much the basics of it. Let us know how you do. Enjoy your stay.
