Problems with reel and line
#7
there the not keeping your line tight thing that catches all of us now and then, especialy with bobber fishing.

I have looked at the floro carbins, they sure are perty, but it is hard to get me to make the leap from silver thread on my dime. [:p]

I have an ice fishing bud who swears by it, at it and about it on the ice.. but he wont use anything else cuz it is the only line he can see on the ice. [sly] I have watched him fish, so I think most of his problems with the floro carbin is himself.. [laugh] three fiths to the wind if ya know what I mean.. [angelic]

I have seen the high abrasion and cheep line actualy unravel and rats nest on the spool during the cast.

one can diagnost one's own problems if you are attentive enough. first few times it happened to me I was just like every one else, I was just out for a little enjoyment and relaxation only to be confounded with the berdon of my new reel with new line bird nesting every 4-5 cast... I came up with every excuse there was and made up a few of my own as to why it was happening to me all the way to the point of having to much line on my reel. after stripping half of it off I still got the same problem. then it became a matter of principal to me as to what was going on.

so I watched and watched, keeping my line tight on every cast. I made sure I did every thing my dad taught me from years earlier, after about 10 cast staring at the reel insted of where I was casting I saw it happen.. Just like a cartoon animation.... POOOFFF instant birds nest in my spool, as soon as I saw that, all the excuses was over, I pulled out my clippers and knawed all the line off my spool and tried silver thread and have been a hooked guppy ever since.

there are other lines out there equaly as good, I have just found that I get more hookups with smaller diamiter lines. This is especialy so in the winter. I have another bud that fishes with half pound test line. he pulls in more fish than I do, but he looses a lot of jigs in the process as well.
