Bait reg clarification
#9
Up until this year, I've fished Floyd Lamb 3-4 times a week for over two years and have talked to just about every game warden who haunts the place (sometimes with binoculars behind trees). So I consider myself "a reputable source."

I can tell you with certainty that each warden is different in how they interpret this ambiguous reg, i.e, use of fish parts for bait. Some will allow you to use prepackaged bait, others will tell you its not allowed.

So there is really no argument. The rules are the rules, break them at your own peril. So even if a NDOW warden responds "Yea" or "Nay" to your email, the final answer will be the warden who asks for your license as you are fishing the urbans.

Personally, I don't see a reason to use cut bait in the urbans. Stinkbait, shrimp, hotdogs or plain nightcrawlers will do the job just as efficiently for cats. Powerballs, Power worms, inline spinners, meal worms - even marshmallows work just fine for trout.

We are talking about dumb stockers which will eat just about anything in the urbans. The real trick to catching fish at the urbans is to get there within 2 days after stocking, not what bait you are using.

So I wouldn't tell people to break the regs even with the caveat "I'm not suggesting..." then imply that is OK... Wink, Wink, because of some vague "several reputable sources."

The only exception in the 2011 NV fishing regs on use of fish parts are " preserved salmon eggs" with nothing about prepackaged fish parts.

BTW: I'm done with this, time for a brown bottle, a wet line and some store bought fish parts....[mad][cool]
