absolutly,
I have never seen a factory spooled reel that had a deacent line on it, they put junk on it, I mean the cheepest stuff they can find.
To be honest, I just asoon they sell it to me with no line on it at all.... Save me some stripping and spooling time cuz I am going to put my line of choice on it.
Stay away from high abrasion lines because that is for trolling not casting. It makes great leader lines because it likes to lay out streaght and has excilent knot tying qualities...
it was nearly 30 years ago I spooled my reel with maxum abraision resistant line. dont get me wrong, it is a quality line, it is just it is not made for spinning reels, it wants to fall off the spool and ends up in a birds nest in two or three cast.
I like the silver thread because it is a smaller diamiter than other lines of the same poundage, and is softer to the touch wich I beleives gives me more fish strikes.
