Man that sux royal! I had trucks busted into, had friends cars cleaned out while staying a hotel in Vegas (so much for all the cameras). Hope your insurance is good to ya, and doesn't use the excuse to jack fees!
I've worried about the crap in my boat sitting around. And most is crap - but heck - a battery alone can be worth a hundred bux!
It's one thing to find a lure stuck in a bush, or snagged on a rock, but quite another to "clean out" someone's rig! I grew up in Chicago - and on the southside - if you don't lock it, you lose it. Utah is generally so 'safe' - it's part of what gives the criminals the upper hand - boldness gets them away with it.
We can all help - if you EVER see something suspicious - call them out! Say "hey - can I help you?" Even if you don't know the guy or the guy's rig - claim - that's my buddy's rig there - do you have a question? Then explain that your buddy is the size of Shaq - loves to hunt and fish, wears camo, sports loads of tattoos, and is packin heat at ALL times!!!! Maybe then they'll back off!!!
I feel for ya. I've "left gear" one place or another - returning (of course) to find it gone. Gnaws at your gut!
