From the beginning of this post, I believe things got a little misunderstood! I never once said that I wanted you to release all of your walleye! I questioned your choice of fish to keep and release but like you and others have said, it is completely your choice. I have read several of your posts and have always enjoyed them, with several of them being very informative. I'm sure so have others and they maybe the type of "new" people that read "I killed my 6 biggest walleyes" from a guy that has posts up all of the time and this might turn them 1. Away from big fish tackle.com because they are a fan of catch and release or 2. It might make them sway the other direction and be the type of person that throws several packages of freezer burnt fish away every year.
On another note, I find it hilarious that you call me a walleye snob! My last six fishing trips (besides the walleye tournament) have been crappie fishing twice at CJ, smallmouths at Walcott once and catching huge channel & flatheads over by Weiser, three times. I would have that same comment on my mind, if you said you killed your 6 biggest catfish, largemouths, smallmouths also.
I do believe that if you think our tournament has a large mortality rate, that tagging those fish before releasing them, would be a fantastic idea. I for one, don't believe this to be the case on our tournament. I and others have been on the lake the days following the event and have never seen this and we know where the fish were released.
