[cool][#0000ff]I have been a part of several organizations in several states...working to enhance specific waters or to improve habitat and fisheries for specific species. I am well aware that without caring and dedicated efforts in some areas there would be much worse fishing. State fisheries departments are limited both in the resources they have available...monetary and personnel...and in what they put on their agendas without a lot of prodding. Without group pressures they usually take the path of least resistance. They are human.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]My beef is not with sincere people who honestly work to improve a water or a fishery. But I go bonkers every time some pseudoscientific argument is presented by some bozo whose only concern is keeping the rest of the angling public away from his adopted darlings.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I have cultivated longtime friendships with fisheries biologists from several states over the years. I have a lot of respect for those who endure low pay and long hours for a job they truly believe in and who try to make a difference. But I have also seen far to many who care only about themselves and their little empires...and who are masters at fabricating "data" to justify whatever it is that they do...or don't do. Just like in corporate America.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]My point? I never accept on face value the statements of someone who "heerd tell" from a biologist that something happened...especially if that something is a slam dunk argument for whatever point they are trying to make. Heck, I have even worked jointly on research projects [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]that ended up directly refuting published papers by other biologists.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I long ago gave up making personal attacks on individuals. I allow everybody to establish and maintain their own opinions...for their own reasons...and to conduct themselves however they prefer. That is, unless they get in my face or threaten to create problems for me and the way I live my life. I will state my opinions and allow others the right to challenge them...without going to war over it.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Peace.[/#0000ff]
