Sorry, I don't use spinning reels. I know that there's a place for them - even in bass fishing, but I've just never gotten the "hang" of them.
I use baitcasting reels, and SPINcasting reels (for light-weight lures and windy days). A couple good value-priced baitcasting reels are the Pinnacle Solene (6+1 bearings) and Inertia Finesse (8+1 bearings). Either can be purchased NEW for less than $50 on eBay.
For my spincasting (closed-face spinning reels), I find the Zebco Platinum (5 bearings) and Omega (6+1 bearings) hard to beat.
