light line vs. heavy line
#47
We fish almost everything on 8# Trilene. Bass, Walleyes, Cats, even Blue Gills and Perch. On small stuff we use fly rods with small open bail reels, so you get the sense of the fight without the loss of fish or danger of playing the fish to long, because you can't get the fish to the boat. Kids love the long rods (8'-9') and maintain control of the fight.

When we fish Big Pike or Musky we jump up tp 12# Trilene on Bait Casters, because we are throwin' heavy artillery and need some reliable connection from pole to bait.
