I would want to know when you plan to be doing the day trips. Later in the year I usually wet wade it in sandals and shorts, but for a few weeks after the runoff starts backing off I usually wear waders. And as mentioned make sure you wear the PFD, especially while in the boat, and a very smart move when out of it as well.
