I see there has been many comments made both for and against walleyes in Ririe. Bottom line is that if they are in there and if they are naturally reproducing, there is not much any one of us can do to totally erradicate them. Love em, hate em or even if indifferent... they are mighty tasty and can be caught from a boat and from shore, open water and trough the ice!
Again, I do not support or agree with illegal planting of any animal. But I do feel that in a situation such as this we would all be much better off trying to identify the person/persons who made the illegal introduction and ensure he/she/they get prosecuted rather than bickering back and forth between what we each "feel" is best for the reservior and the already established sport species (of which, most are non-native). Simply put, we should just shut up and fish!
Which reminds me... Has anyone been catching any walleyes yet? Has anyone heard if the Fish and Game has had any higher catch rates or have they seen evidence of additional year classes during test netting this spring? Were any pulled through the ice? I have not heard anything regarding any catch at all this year...
