cool thanx, imthesmf, i do think that i am not chumming enough, i usually only bring one bag of chovies, and chop up and chum about half of the bag and use the rest for bait. another issue is the bait i think. i say this because i can never keep it frozen even keeping it on ice, it gets all mushy and falls right off the hook when casting or right when it hits the water. i know someone has asked this before but has anyone ever actually used salt cured baitfish? we used to cure our herring in the northwest before fishing for salmon, it stayed on the hook 10 times longer than uncured, i wonder if it would work here for striper. too bad i cant get fresh bait around here.
