. If you ever do start fly fishing, you're going to need a smaller san juan worm. Long ones like that tend to foul the hook, though I guess they work fine if you're bobber fishing .

You don't need a fly rod at all to fish flies. I have carolina rigged flies for youngster's in the past. A buddy of mines 11 year old killed 3 experienced fly fisherman this way several years back. You can also suspend flies under a tiny bobber to mimic the indicator fishing I did in my blog article on Kirch. Works just as well as the fly rod and you don't have to worry about the kids hooking themselves casting a fly.
