i guess i left out that whole fiasco for the invasive sticker.
when we got into idaho, at the rest stop outside of snowville, we stopped and did the whole boat check deal. knew we needed a sticker, but the 2 young girls doing the inspection didn't have any. she showed me a book of places that had the sticker. i buzzed through it, but really ddin;t think too much of it. we fished Oregon for 3 days and never did get a sticker for them. when we were ready to head to woodhead, we stopped at the Walmart in Ontario. i know it' still Oregon, but we asked the guys in the sporting goods where we could get an Idaho sticker. he promptly and proudly replied "any of the major gas station on 95 have them. No problem. yea right.
left Fruitland and stopped in Payette at the first big gas station. Nope they don;t have them. try the Albertson's. Well that's right by the liquer store, so ok. we need to hit it as well. Nope. Albertsons looked at us like we were stupid and said to try the sheriff's office down the road.
I remember the Walmart guy said specifically the Maverick in Weiser. pretty mad by now. so we skip the cop chop in payette and cruise to Weiser. the Maverick people said they never heard of them, so we go to the Cenex up the street. Ahh, Idaho Fish and Game sign in front. these guys will know. Nope they dont have them, but we did finally talk to someone who knew what they were. Tell us we have try the courthouse. so we go to the Courthouse. mind you i am fuming and pulling a 24ft pontoon boat during this mess. not a lot places to park this monster at all our stops.
Guess what... NOPE! the Courthouse don't have any. They sure wish people would quit sending people there. It is not Fish and Game, it is the parks and Rec dept. Courthouse makes a few phone calls. Low and behold. Gateway store, 2 miles from Woodhead have them. SWEET. we are on our way.
Mind you now, we have been told about 4 times they have to inspect the boat, and make it out to be a big deal. Thats why only certain people have the stickers. becasue there is training involved. Finally, we get to Gateway (we did see a bear and 2 turkeys on the way in. Bear was just after we dropped down over the summit on the north side of the road, turkeys by the Cecil D Andrus house). I love Gateway by the way. miss the old cabin store.
Anyway... we get some stuff, and tell the lady we need the sticker. 22 bucks and she never looked at the boat, never asked a question about where we been or anything. Utah at least asked if you have been in certain waters and have you decontaminated...
Hit Idaho water Sports in Nampa before you head up, or hope that Gateway still has some.
