Northwest Ontario maps
#3
Thanks for the reply. We are heading up on June 26th. We've hired a guide by the name of Gordy for our first day there...a few different people recommended him. But I'm always looking for more information. I'm thinking about purchasing the Navionics chip for my Humminbird. The body of water looks quite large and I don't need to damage my prop while driving around.

We'll be targeting both walleye and perch. For me...I LOVE to catch big jumbo perch. I've got a place on Lake Altoona here in Eau Claire,WI. The perch here have gotten up to 15+ inches (although they've been running smaller the past couple of years). So if you have any advise on spots, baits, or presentation for perch and walleye...I'd appreciate any insight.

Speaking of perch, a few people have told me to head over to Whitefish for a day. But others have said don't bother since Whitefish isn't what it used to be. Do you have a opinion on it? Are there any other hot perch lakes in the general area?

Being this is my first time up there...I'll basically take any advise you can give me to make this a more enjoyable trip. If all goes well, I'm hoping to make this a yearly trek. My boys are 8 and 6 years old, so I'd like to learn as much as possible so I can get them up there in a couple of years.

Feel free to email me direct if that is easier for you...or through the fishing forum...your choice.

Thanks again for taking an interest.

JD
