the fish you hear spashing are probly carp, they are quite loud and make a huge splash sounds like when i belly flop in the pool lol. i've noticed the quick, fast sounding splashes are usually striper blowing up on shad. if ya want a nice fight on med/light gear target those carp, throw some corn on a size 4 snelled hook, with an egg sinker slipped on above a swivel, cast out about 30 feet from shore and just let it sit. note: these fish WILL pull your rod into the lake so keep a close eye on your rod, if not for my son being close to my rods to grab them i would be down 2 poles he actually went in after them cause they were fully in the water. make sure your drag is set light or you will constantly break em off. good luck if ya have any questions feel free to drop me a pm i will be happy to help as much as i can[fishin]
