9 wt and 15 lb!!! Wow! I use an 8 wt and 0X (about 10lb) The rod should take the pull without breaking the tippet...in theory that is. But enough back bone for heavy clousers. I figure if this set up can pull Big old Grass Carp out of the weeds, it should work for Wipers/Stripers
