I'm a fan of shimano for their warrenty and strength. Here's one on sale now at bass pro. The fast tip helps you when you fish your hard baits. Good all around rod. For worms I like a stiffer tip. As you get the bass bug, you'll add more rods to fit the bait/lure used.
