If you spent the dough on that combo then I am assuming you want to learn to fly fish. I am not an expert, but this is my advice on how to learn...
There are plenty of youtube videos on how to cast... if we fish in person I will show you myself, but if not plenty of good videos. I would practice in 15 minute increments a couple of times a week in a NON fishing situation. As bad as this sounds you do not want to be distracted by the possibility of catching a fish while learning to cast. What I did was take several frisbees to a local park... throw the frisbees various distances... then tie a piece of high viz yarn to the end of your leader and practice laying the fly on the different frisbees. The ponds are bad 'cuz you always have to be aware of who or what you might snag on the backcast. You don't have that worry with a hookless piece of yarn. Lotsa web sites and videos will tell you not too look back at your backcast, but when you first start out I find it helpful so you can understand what the line is actually doing.
**If i stress nothing else... THE ROD DOES THE WORK!!! not you.. [cool]
One of the hardest things to overcome when converting from any other type of fishing to fly fishing is you use y our wrist differently... or not at all if you do it right..
I bet if you went to a field and practiced just twice with no distractions you'd be ready to hit the water with confidence w/ that 5wt you bought
