I truly believe that after a 20 or 30 minute session I could teach you to cast well enough to catch a fish. It really isn't that hard... after that it's just practice. For all the whoop and show it boils down to timing and that comes w/ practice.... anytime you wanna go I'll gladly join ya if I have the time.. I started fly fishing like 12yrs ago when I moved to vegas... first outfit was the 20 dollar full set from the local outlet store... used the heck outta it too, then handed it down to me buddy. PM me if interested... just a side note... don't know how much fishing i'll do in the next few days.. i did something dumb and cut myself with a knife on the knuckle of my left index finger... purty swollen and painful though I think it's fine.
I don't know your level of fly fishing, but if you did buy the complete outfit from one of the marts, they sometimes only come with flyline and no backing. If that is the case, get some backing... it's cheap and load it first. If you get a carp on a fly rod w/ no backing you don't stand a chance... even against a little one. Like I said I don't know where y ou are at w/ fly fishing, but if you are in the beginning stages I promise you it looks harder than it is.
