The only thing this state tries to manage is trout. Regardless of who's right, wrong, has good ideas, has bad ideas, the other options are just not being explored. The relentless bantering of shad this, prey that, predator this, overpopulation that is all our forum member "ideas" or googled answers or years of experience or I talked to this biologist or that conservation guy is pointless. I am just as guilty about offering my ideas that may be right wrong or otherwise. Theres been what, 1 actual biologist comment on this forum? But the state doesnt want to nor is it their priority to provide us a good walleye, perch, or pike fishery. If it was, it would be all over the DWR website about what they are doing and how well its working. All of us that enjoy walleye, bass, perch, pike, ect... are used to getting the left overs out of the trout management (stocking) fund to enjoy our fisheries too. And after we weed through the 30 planted trout to finally catch what were fishing for, we feel pretty good. Like I tell my family in Wisconsin, if you think walleye are hard to catch there, try it where there is 1 walleye to every 9,000,000,000 trout. So I imagine we will keep chasing the toothy critters like we have for years, just dont expect us to stop complaining.
