Line test? 6 8lb or what

I'm using vanish it was in a gold and black box it's 17lb test! It works great for me for what I use it for! It works great for the carp around here!! Any way I havnt ever had any issues with it ever! I've used it for a few years now on the carp rod!! As far as 6-8 pound test I prefer 8 due to it gives me that extra security of strength!!
