The reason that they tagged and released them was so they can find out where they are congregating/spawning and thereby focus their efforts, and fishermen, in that area. It was the first step in the plan. As for the concern that they would make it into the snake river, it's a real long shot if the bucket biologists don't give a hand. After spending time on google earth and following the stream flows the eyes would have to go to the downstream side of the res. get over or through the dam, swim downstream about 30 miles to the blackfoot area where willow creek dumps in. They then have to go upstream, over numerous diversions and power plants, get up gem state dam (good luck) through gem lake, over 2 more power plants in I.F., up the falls, over ate least two more power plants upstream, plus the diversion in front of university place, then another 20 miles or so to the south fork. Plus do it in numbers to support reproduction. I would worry much more about bucket biologists putting them in streams than them getting into the S. Fork from Ririe.
