Don't have a good picture and this is the Renegade, but no reason you couldn't do it on the Escape.

Notice the straps in the knee area. That is a Scotty rod holder. It is on the inside , but slightly off the top. Out of the way of the legs and completely out of the way of rowing. This tells me that a Fishing buddy would work on the inside.
In fact, with that foot bar, why doesn't some one come up with a way to clamp it on the foot bar between your feet. Easy to see, easy to tilt up out of the way...Possibilities? I mean the bar is fixed.
