Line test? 6 8lb or what
#21
Vanish fluoro has broke on me in 4 and 6 lb test. Will never get it again. It also seems brittle for lack of a better description. Mostly at the knots but I have found it to be a weak line and will not use it again. I have some 17 lb. on another setup and it seems fine but it really hasn't been tested beyond a snag.
P line has worked great and have experimented with some other fluoro lines like Triple Fish and that worked great too but seems to have more memory and stiffness than I want. Still trying to find that perfect fluoro. I have played with that red cajun line and it seems ok if I remember right. It is a less expensive line and I still tie a different leader to it as I still can't tie a hook to a crimson red line and think it is invisible to the fish with all the lures and stuff that are red to attract fish.
Not sure what your rod and reel are rated for or what and where you fish but I like going with the smallest test possible. Cast further, feel bites better, sink faster, etc.
All depends on what you are fishing with for what and where tho.
It can get quite expensive tho to put lots of 6lb fluoro on a reel that holds lots of line. I will sometimes only replace the first 100 yards or so and tie on with a blood knot to the old line.
Old standby that always seems to work great though is Stren Mono.
