There are a couple of additional things to consider. If you use a float tube, you'll need chest waders unless you want to get wet. You'll be down in the water further and in cold water you'll not be able to last as long as you would on a pontoon boat. With a pontoon boat, you can get by with hip boots to keep your feet dry. Pricewise, you can get a float tube a lot cheaper but on the high end, some float tubes are pricier than pontoon rigs.
