I got to fish for steelhead on two rivers this week. While on a business trip I was able to stop off and fish the S. Fork of the Clearwater last Tuesday. The water conditions were not very good, the river was way off color and increased in discharge by about 2-times. However, with some persistence, I was able to find a run that held some fish and caught 5 of those beautiful B run fish on my fly rod. and lost 2 others. I am still getting used to my Iphone so instead of photos I got only movies that are 2 seconds long...so much for technology. I attached one photo of a typical fish that I captured as a screen shot. Then on Saturday some friends and I headed to the Salmon. It started out slow but really picked up, I think we boated or banked 7 and hooked and broke of lost at least that many from noon to 5pm. I took one photo as we always had our hands full when a fish were landed, I will down load the photo from my camera and post it, with the other from the S Fork. All were caught with a flyrod using globugs or a bead or some combination of both. We fished near Salmon, can't wait to go again. Those fish on the S Fork are ridiculous, every year I got back and every year I am stunned when I land the first fish. This is the first year I used my flyrod, I watched two of the fish come off the bottom to take the bead, it was great.
