Toon Trailer pimpin' Albino style....
#52
Michael, your reading my mind. I am afraid that the set up is just a little bit fragile when you start thinking 75 to 80 miles an hour. Then you add bumpy dirt roads and things start working loose.
FG, Expanding and contracting is a worry for me. I knew that my toons would sag as the weather got cooler and less elevation. I also knew that they would tighten up as it got warmer and elevation raised. This trip is the first time I have traveled this far and with this much "change" in conditions with inflated toons. All my trips up to this point have been less of a big deal.
I checked my toons often I kept an eye on them, and watched my altimeter and thermometer on the truck. My trailer is a flat deck so I didn't have any trouble at all BUT. I could see where the "racks" only might be a problem. The toon sags and becomes loose. The next thing you know 75 to 80 mile per hour wind is changing the way the load is sitting, and not for the better. I just bought some used Yakima racks to put on my camper shell. I am starting to re-think that whole thing. for short trips where the weather and altitude doesn't change much the racks would be fine. I am thinking about a couple of planks on both sides for the toons to sit on length wise instead of the bars side ways. One thing I did find out is my trailer only costs 2 MPG or less to pull. For that I might not even mess with the Yakima racks at all. Ron
