Most float fishing usually takes places in mid summer to later on in the Snake from Shelley down to the Railroad Bridge just outside Blackfoot where you can take out.
I would really think twice before floating it now with Spring melt just around the corner.
If the Feds decide to open up the water flow below Palasaides Dam it could mean dangerous float conditions. Just a caution to all of you eager-to-fish-open-water anglers. The Snake is a dangerous body of water. Every year we lose at least two to three persons and sometimes up to five to drowning. Mark my word--it will happen again this year! Most deaths are alcohol related and in the summer time. However,
I would stay away from high water and extra cold water temperature time like here real soon. Be a little more patient and let Spring melt occur and then the water drop and then GO FOR IT|!!!!!!
