I totally agree that a factory rack in not the way to go. I used my Thule rack on my 90 cherokee to haul my 7' toon around and had no problems. The 90 was replaced with a 99 grand and I used the factory rack. Even though I had no problems happen I still like how the thule rack handled over the factory rack. It was much stronger.
