Back from AZ

[#0000ff][cool]Yeah, that algae kill was a killer...literally. My wife and I had been doing very well on yellow bass, largemouth, cats and even a few walleyes. One morning we launched and almost immediately noticed a foul smell in the air. And there were not even any carp jumping. Couldn't find any fish on sonar and didn't get a tap in 3 hours of fishing. Highly unusual for that lake.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]We cruised into the shallows and found the surface covered with little dead clams that had floated to the surface and were the source of the foul odor. That algae was the result of heavy nutrients and chemicals washing into the Salt River from the big fires of the year before. Lots of flame retardant and other chemicals...plus the ash and mud runoff.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]We moved back to Utah at the end of that summer and kept tabs on the poor fishing through friends and family left behind. Too Sad. [/#0000ff]
