DOW was one of our meetings (early winter) and said the shad population accounted for 42% of the fish in the lake.
Striped bass accounted for 52%. Gizzard shad can spawn 3 times per year and an adult will lay up to 350,000 eggs, threadfin will lay up to 180,000 eggs.
We take about 1,000 striper a year but have never taken a limit of 20" fish.
