There might need to be a distinction made about the number of trips people make, along with how many they keep. We don't get to fish very much. Last year we went for catfish twice, once in southern ID, once in western ID. Didn't do worth a durn either time, but if we had hit it big, we would have brought home the cats. Not the little 6-8-10" cats like I saw one guy keeping, but some with meat.
We once loaded a fish basket with perch from Carey Lake and a guy at the ramp kinda gave me the stink eye, saying they were all small. Well, no kidding. But they tasted great and I wish we could have made it back to get more. If we can swing a trip to Cascade this year, we'll bring back as many perch as we can.
I might get to Strike once a year, and every crappie comes home that we catch that day.
So we eat what we catch, and seeing a daily catch might look obscene, but it might be the only catch we make that year.
