How Many is enough?

I'm Don and I'm a Kokanee Addict! The only reason I fish Ririe is for Kokanee. Other than that, there are waters that are better suited for almost every other fish in there with the exception of small mouths which really don't come into play in the winter. On the hard deck or the soft water, I can't get enough of them. I study why they shoal, migrate and attack lures and bait. I understand what they can see at depth. I target the optimum temperature zones for the time of year I'm fishing. I am completely absorbed trying to lean what they can perceive at depth and what triggers a fight or flight response. Barometric pressure, lunar phases, light at depth, plankton counts, current drifts, territorial patterns, I'm all over it! Two seasons ago, we were on the ice at 6:15am and back off by 6:45am most mornings. We were leaving before there were 4 or 5 cars in the lot. A good weekday in the summer is putting the boat in the water at 6am and putting it back on the trailer by 6:45am. Kokes bled and bagged on ice.

I eat them canned like a tuna sandwich 3 days a week, at least one day on the weekend I eat them on an everything bagel with cream cheese, I have them for dinner at least once or twice a week, baked, deep fried, fish tacos, I adore Kokanee!

I really like trolling for them but it's hard to reach the speed needed on the hard deck!

Fishing is hard work. If I needed relaxation I would stay home.
