Advice: Best type PFD for tube?

I always test my jackets ASAP after I get them to see how well they work. I have been surprised that some with loaded down pockets do not turn you face up with a hang limp test. I believe this is because there is not enough floatation up high in the chest area, but who knows? Anyway, FWIW category, would be something to try in a heated pool this time of year....
