[indent]One lucky angler reportedly caught a 33-pound striper while trolling out of Echo Bay over the weekend. The fish had been eating large gizzard shad, which fishermen are finding in the Overton Arm and the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) is crediting with fattening up stripers. The Vegas Wash area continues to produce fish, though in fewer numbers than in the recent past. Fishermen have been using a variety of baits from hardware to anchovies. Participants in a pair of weekend bass tournaments did not catch a lot of fish but they did catch some good fish, some weighing in at three and four pounds. NDOW planted rainbow trout at Hemenway and Crawdad cove on Tuesday and plans to stock those locations again tomorrow (Fri. 1/21).
